Remove image metadata locally
JPEG, PNG and WebP images can contain source metadata such as camera details, timestamps or GPS coordinates. This tool decodes their pixels and encodes a new image without copying those source metadata blocks.
How to clean an image
- Open the file cleaner and leave image re-encoding enabled.
- Choose a JPEG, PNG or WebP under 20 MB and 20 megapixels.
- Download the re-encoded copy and inspect it before sharing.
What changes?
JPEG is re-encoded at quality 0.92; WebP uses the browser’s encoder settings. Compression, colour and file size may change. Animated PNG/WebP become still images. The original file is not overwritten.
Does this remove an AI watermark?
It discards source metadata rather than erasing visible logos or detecting marks encoded in pixels. It does not verify removal of every provenance signal. Claude’s statistical text watermark is a separate mechanism.
Before sharing
Check the exported image’s appearance and inspect metadata with a metadata viewer when privacy matters. The browser may add new technical metadata; “re-encoded” does not mean “contains no metadata.”
