Claude AI watermark: can a text cleaner remove it?

No: removing invisible characters does not remove Claude’s documented statistical text watermark. The two operate differently. This free tool cleans formatting artifacts; it does not verify or erase that statistical signal.
How does the Claude watermark work?
Anthropic describes a pattern in word selection, using a version of SynthID-Text. It explicitly says no hidden characters are added. The watermark is not a personal identifier. See Anthropic’s explanation of Claude text watermarking for model rollout and current details.
Can I remove Claude’s watermark by cleaning text?
A character cleaner changes Unicode formatting, not the word-selection pattern described by Anthropic. Copying the cleaned result does not establish that a watermark is gone. We do not promise a watermark-free result or a change in AI-detector scores.
What does this AI text cleaner remove?
It removes selected hidden characters such as zero-width spaces and byte order marks. Optional settings normalize spacing or punctuation. Joiners and directional controls are preserved by default because they can be meaningful.

Why do searches for “remove Claude watermark” show text cleaners?
“Watermark” is used loosely for several different things. Check a tool’s method and limitations before relying on its result. A count of invisible characters is not evidence of AI authorship.
AI watermark vs image metadata
Statistical text patterns, hidden Unicode, image metadata and visible image logos need different methods. Re-encoding image metadata does not prove removal of a watermark in the pixels.
